Former Union Minister Kapil Sibal. (PTI)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. The BJP on Saturday alleged that former Union Minister Kapil Sibal had received an award funded by American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein at an event in the US in 2010. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should clarify on this. When asked about this, Sibal dismissed BJP's claim as "nonsense".
In a post on Twitter, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said that Kapil Sibal had received an award allegedly funded by Jeffrey Epstein in 2010. Bhandari alleged that Congress State Department chief Sam Pitroda was also associated with the "same groups".
He posted a document on Twitter purportedly Sibal's name was in the list of award winners along with other dignitaries including Pitroda at the 2010 international awards ceremony held in New York.
The BJP leader has alleged that shortly thereafter, many policy changes were seen during the then Congress led government. He asked whether it was a mere coincidence or Epstein's influence tried to influence the decisions of the Congress government. Rahul Gandhi should answer this. He is currently an independent member of the Rajya Sabha supported by the Samajwadi Party.
