After this, the police informed the Child Marriage Prohibition Officer about the matter. They have registered a case against the bride, the Pandit and two witnesses in Sector 32-33 police station.
According to the police, on January 14, Karnal's Women Protection and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Savita Rana had received a complaint from Sitamai outpost in-charge. It was told in the complaint that on January 13, around 7 to 8 pm, a loving couple came to Sitamai Chowki and said that they had a love marriage in the temple. When the police checked their documents, they found out that it was a child marriage. The age of the boy was found to be 20 years. The age of the girl is 22 years.
The girl said that she had got married as per Hindu rituals of her own free will on January 13 at Maa Baglamukhi Astrology Anushthan Kendra, Shri Hanuman Temple, Nirmal Vihar Karnal. Pandit Kamalkant got the marriage done and also gave the marriage certificate. Police station in-charge Manoj Kumar said that a case of child marriage has been registered. Investigation is being done.
