Karthik has done this before also
A few years ago, when Karthik's film Shehzada did not perform well at the box-office, he still supported his producers and waived off a major part of his fees. Shehzada was the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapuramalu, starring actor Allu Arjun in the lead role.
Fees were also waived off for Shahzada
In 2023, in an interview with ETimes, Kartik explained why he had refunded his fees as an actor for Shehzada. When asked if he had reduced his fees as a producer on Shehzada or was working on a profit-share basis, Kartik said, 'For this film, initially, I was not associated as a producer for Shehzada. Earlier, I had taken my fees and remuneration. The film was in trouble and they needed someone to step in. So I asked my producer and then I left my money. That's how it all happened, the production and me becoming a co-producer (happened)'.
When asked if he refunded his fees, the actor said, 'Almost, almost. In a way, this took some of the burden off the film. I had signed this film when I had not even signed 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', so... both the films were running simultaneously. Thankfully, the budget of this film (Shehzada) was not high, but it is an action film, so it needed some budget. At one time we were facing some problems, due to which I had to give up the fees.
You are mine, I am yours, I am yours, you are about me.
Sameer Vidhan's romantic comedy film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri (TMMTMTTM), released in theaters on Christmas and received mixed reactions. This film is Karthik and Ananya's second film together, before which they had worked together in the 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri also stars Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta in important roles. It is produced by Karan Johar under his production banner Dharma Productions.
