Its objective is not only to develop sports talent but also to strengthen the sports sector as a source of employment and economy in the next ten years. Players and sports coaches of the district seem excited by this announcement.
Taking forward the talent nurturing started under Khelo India programme, now through Khelo India Mission, the target has been set to make India a superpower on the global sports map. Ghaziabad already has emerging talents in sports like cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, wrestling, football, athletics, badminton, shooting etc. Under the Khelo India Mission, players from villages and small towns will be identified and provided training, accommodation and nutrition facilities. So that the youth of the district will also be able to reach big platforms like Olympics.
New employment opportunities will also open
Under the Khelo India Mission, employment opportunities will be created not only for the players but also for coaches, high-performance directors, talent scouts, physiotherapists, sports psychologists, diet experts and youth associated with sports management. There is also a possibility of getting jobs on a large scale in the field of stadium management, event organizing and logistics.
