'Lakhs of jobs are going to be created in India', big claim of Nvidia CEO; Explained how the ecosystem of jobs is formed?
New Delhi AI based data centers in India can bring huge employment boom like internet era. This big claim has been made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. His statement came at a time when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in Budget 2026 that foreign companies using data centers built in India will get tax holiday till 2047.
In a press conference during the 3D Experience World event in Houston, Huang said that the construction of data centers in India will create jobs on a large scale. According to him, 5000 to 10000 people get employment just in building one data centre. Electricians, plumbers and construction workers are directly involved.
But the real impact is much bigger than this. He said that sectors like pipe, cement, design, architecture, project management are also included in the supply chain. After the data center is started, its operation, maintenance and the startups built on it also increase employment.

How are jobs created in the ecosystem?
Huang stressed that building a single data center creates both upstream and downstream jobs, that is, jobs are created across the entire ecosystem, from construction to tech startups. Giving the example of the expansion of Internet in India, he said that just as Internet created jobs on a large scale, AI can also do the same.
'Data centers will become India's biggest strength'
India's IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also said that data centers will become a major strength of India and through them India will be able to provide new digital services to the world. Big tech companies have already bet on India.
Google has announced an investment of $ 15 billion (about Rs 1.35 lakh crore) in an AI data center project in Andhra Pradesh, while Microsoft and Amazon have also spent billions of dollars on data centers in India.
