The landslide incident in Kishtwar district occurred after recent snowfall and rain in Jammu and Kashmir.
Communication Assistant, Kishtwar. Dozens of cattle, including sheep and goats, were killed in a landslide in Kishtwar on Wednesday. The landslide occurred near Hasti bridge, when a group of shepherds was passing through the area with their cattle. He told that suddenly Malwa started falling from the mountain due to which the shepherds ran away to save their lives but many animals got buried under the debris, but the shepherds accompanying them narrowly escaped. He said that the exact number of how many cattle were killed in this incident will be known only after the rescue operation is completed. In the last two days, most parts of Jammu and Kashmir have received fresh snowfall in the higher reaches and rain in the plains.
There has been no news of any accident from anywhere else, but this accident happened in which these sheep and goats got buried under the debris. For this, the administration has formed a team which will go to the spot and take stock of the situation and will submit the report to the administration regarding the amount of loss suffered by the shepherds.
Only after that, the compensation to the shepherds will be decided by the government. According to the information of the shepherds, about two dozen sheep and goats are buried under the debris and they kept working all day to rescue them.
