Lead of page three: Asansol Municipal Corporation gives 20 percent rebate in property tax
Jagran Correspondent, Asansol: This month's board meeting was organized in Asansol Municipal Corporation on Thursday. Municipal Corporation Chairman Amarnath Chatterjee, Commissioner Ekam J. were present in the meeting. Singh, various MMICs, Borough Chairman and councilors of all the wards of the corporation area were present. During the meeting, the ongoing and proposed development works in Asansol Municipal Corporation area were discussed in detail. During this period, keeping in mind the overall development of the city, more than 100 development schemes and plans were approved, which will further strengthen the basic facilities in various wards. Making an important announcement after the meeting, Chairman Amarnath Chatterjee said that those houses, factories and commercial buildings which have outstanding municipal tax, if they deposit their outstanding tax by March 31, 2026, they will be given a discount of 20 percent on the total amount. He said that this decision has been taken with the aim of providing relief to the common citizens and promoting tax collection. The Chairman further said that special tax collection camps will be organized by the Municipal Corporation in various areas of Asansol Municipal Corporation, so that people do not face any inconvenience in depositing taxes. Apart from this, interested citizens can also directly come to the Municipal Corporation office and deposit their outstanding tax. This decision of the Municipal Corporation is expected to provide great relief to the defaulters, while it is also expected to increase the income of the Corporation. The opposition is calling it a red herring before the elections.
