Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. The court of Additional Sessions Judge at Karkardooma has sentenced the accused Ramesh, who was convicted in the case of shooting dead his mother in 2012, to life imprisonment. The court refused to show any leniency, terming the case as a serious crime against humanity and relationships.

Additional Sessions Judge Babru Bhan said that the prosecution proved on the basis of solid evidence that the accused shot and killed his mother and the crime was proved beyond doubt.

The court also said that there was neither any provocation nor any circumstances at the time of the incident that could justify the crime. The court sentenced Ramesh to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 40 thousand.

Earlier on December 6, the court had convicted Ramesh under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to the prosecution, on May 15, 2012, due to a property dispute in Vijay Colony area of North Delhi, Ramesh had shot his mother Shanti Devi with a country-made pistol, resulting in her death.

Additional Public Prosecutor Ghanshyam argued that the accused committed a very brutal crime and showed no mercy despite his close relationship, hence maximum punishment should be given.
