Lucknow Metro North-South Metro Corridor
Nishant Yadav, Jagran, Lucknow: There is going to be relief from the problem of long queues at the counter for metro travel in the capital and small amounts of money for the fare. Due to this problem, passengers who were avoiding traveling by metro will now switch to metro again. Bar code ticket system will be implemented in a week.
While the metro is being expanded in Lucknow, efforts are also going on to provide maximum relief to the passengers. Now bar code based ticketing system is going to be implemented in Lucknow Metro.
Passengers will be able to book this ticket on the Lucknow Metro app from their mobile phones. At the same time, even if there is a queue at the counter, they will get a ticket with bar code like Delhi Metro. Now passengers will be able to enter and exit by scanning the ticket bar code of the mobile phone and counter.
At present, about 80 thousand passengers travel every day from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport to Munshipulia on the North-South Metro Corridor. More than one lakh passengers traveled by metro on Christmas festival and New Year.
There are many such metro stations including Alambagh, Singarnagar, where passengers have to stand in long queues for 25 to 30 minutes during peak times from 9 to 11 in the morning and from 5 to 7 in the evening for tickets.
At present, passengers get a token for traveling in the metro by paying the fare in cash or online. Many passengers also have smart cards to travel. The metro administration is now going to add a new facility. Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is installing bar code scanning machines at all metro stations.
Along with this, an app of Lucknow Metro is also being prepared. In this app, information about the complete route of the metro, names of stations, distance, travel time, fare and all the facilities including catering will be given.
Passengers will be able to book tickets by filling in the details of their journey from the starting station to the destination before starting the journey sitting at home on the app itself. The passenger will get the bar code in the form of ticket on their app itself. The bar code has to be saved in the gallery.
On reaching the metro station, the journey can start as soon as the secure bar code is shown on the mobile phone on the screen installed in the automatic fare collection machine. Similarly, tickets with bar code will be available on paper from the counter. The journey can be started by showing this on the screen. The current ticketing system will also continue.
