Pro. Chandrashekhar, MLA Madhepura
Jagran correspondent, Madhepura. The controversy is deepening regarding the construction work of storm water drainage system being done by Budco at a cost of Rs 72 crore in the Municipal Council area. Amit Kumar, proprietor of construction agency AA Patna (JV), has filed an application in Sadar police station demanding provision of police force and bodyguards at the workplace.
Also local RJD MLA Prof. Chandrashekhar and his representative Alok Kumar Munna along with other supporters have been seriously accused of unnecessary interference in the construction work and threatening to kill if extortion money is not paid.
On the basis of the application given in Madhepura police station on December 9, an FIR has been registered on December 15. Police Station Head Vimalendu Kumar has confirmed this. This is the second case against the Sadar MLA. Earlier on November 25, Sonu Nigam, a laborer resident of Araria district who was engaged in construction work, had filed a case. Apart from slapping and abusing during the inspection on the night of 23 November, there was an allegation of demanding extortion money from the construction agency.
According to the case registered by sensor Amit Kumar on December 15, the MLA and his 10 associates reached the workplace at 9:25 pm on November 23 and suddenly slapped the laborer Sonu Nigam and started abusing him. This frightened him badly. Also there was chaos at the workplace.
After this incident, a case was filed by laborer Sonu Nigam against the MLA and others in Sadar police station. So far no concrete action has been taken against anyone in the case. Even after this, it has become difficult to get the work done due to continuous threats.
MLA's representative Alok Kumar Munna made a WhatsApp call to project manager Ashutosh Kumar and demanded extortion. Threats of death and ruining the contract are also being made.
Storm water drainage system worth Rs 72 crore was sanctioned by the Grand Alliance government for the development of the city. There are gross irregularities in drain construction. I have always been demanding to get the work done as per the DPR in the 20-point meeting and other forums. A fake case has been filed for the second time in a row. I am not afraid of the hooliganism of fake cases. The movement against corruption will continue. - Pro. Chandrashekhar, MLA, Madhepura
