Jagran correspondent, Chitrakoot. On the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima, a wonderful scene of devotion and faith was seen in Tapobhoomi. About one lakh devotees from different parts of the country took bath in the holy Mandakini river and gained virtuous benefits. A crowd of devotees gathered at Ramghat since early morning. Devotees returning after taking bath in Sangam Prayagraj also reached Tapobhoomi and completed religious rituals by circumambulating Kamadgiri mountain.
Despite the dense fog and severe cold on Sunday, the enthusiasm of the devotees did not diminish. Even though the darshan of Sun God took place late, the warmth of faith overcame the cold. After bathing, the devotees did charity and the Magh Mela was formally inaugurated. The process of Jalabhishek and worship continued throughout the day in the Rajadhiraj Swami Matyagendranath temple located in Ramghat. Long queues of devotees were seen in the temple premises wishing for the happiness and prosperity of the family.
In view of the Magh Purnima festival, the district administration had made elaborate arrangements for security and order. Holding areas were created in Bargarh and Rajapur, so that the crowd could be controlled. Zonal and Sector Magistrates were deployed along with the police force in the fair area. Due to the promptness of the administration, the festival was completed in a peaceful and well-organized manner, due to which the devotees heaved a sigh of relief.
