Making fitness certificate for commercial vehicles stopped

Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Vehicle owners of the district will now have to go to Vaishali for fitness certificate of commercial vehicles. On the orders of the department, the process of fitness of commercial vehicles has been stopped in the district.

Due to this order of the department, the problems of owners of all types of vehicles including e-rickshaw, auto, commercial four-wheeler, tractor, truck, bus, JCB have increased. Troubled vehicle owners are making rounds of the District Transport Office. Here, vehicle owners are being fined for failing fitness. In such a situation, there is anger among them against the government and the transport department.

Following the order of the Principal Secretary of the Transport Department, the process of making fitness certificates has been stopped in the district. The fitness of such vehicles will now be made in Vaishali district. The agency has been given the responsibility here. The certificate will be issued after fitness check of the vehicles at the agency's automatic testing centre.

The Vaishali based agency has been given the authority to issue fitness certificates for vehicles of Muzaffarpur as well as Samastipur and Saran districts. According to the information, the agency has been given the responsibility of making fitness certificates in four districts of the state.

The districts have been tagged by these agencies. It should be noted that fitness certificate is mandatory for commercial vehicles. It is mandatory to make fitness certificate for new vehicles every two years for eight years.

Certificate has to be made every year after eight years. Fitness test was conducted in Patahi of the district. DTO Kumar Satendra Kumar said that on the orders of the department, the process of making fitness certificate has been stopped.

Double trouble for vehicle owners

This order of the Transport Department has put commercial vehicle owners in double trouble. Firstly, there is a penalty for not producing fitness certificate. Secondly, taking the vehicle to another district. This is a tragedy especially for e-rickshaws and autos. As per rules, operation of e-rickshaws and autos in other districts is prohibited. Muzaffarpur Auto Rickshaw Employees Union President AR Annu said that while going from Muzaffarpur to Vaishali, there is a possibility of fine as well as confiscation by the police. District President of Motor Transport Federation Mukesh Sharma said that vehicle owners are being harassed.
