State Bureau, Ranchi. The bail hearing of Maoist Kuldeep Ganjhu alias Badal, who became a government witness in the case of attack on former MLA Gurucharan Nayak, was held in the court of Special Judge Abhimanyu Kumar. After the hearing, the court has rejected his bail plea.
The court clarified that under the provisions of the law, the government witness will have to remain in custody until the trial is over. NIA had arrested the accused on January 9, 2023. Presently he is in Hazaribagh Open Jail.
Kuldeep Ganjhu had confessed his crime in the court and expressed his desire to become a government witness. Which was accepted by the court in June 2023. His testimony has also been completed in August 2025.
NIA Special Public Prosecutor Mukesh Kumar Sinha presented the case. Let us inform that on January 4, 2022, Maoists had attacked former MLA Gurucharan Nayak during a sports festival in Jhilrua village of West Singhbhum.
In this attack, his bodyguards Thakur Hembram and Shankar Nayak were martyred and their weapons were also looted. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Central Government had handed over its investigation to the NIA.
