Midnight Action On Student Movement: NSUI Fast In Satna Forcibly Ended By Police, Congress Accused Of Dictatorship

Police uprooted the tents and forcibly removed the agitators.

Digital Desk, Jabalpur. NSUI State Secretary Anand Pandey and other agitators, who were on a fast unto death demanding the removal of the Principal of Government Autonomous Post Graduate College (PMSHRI) of Satna city, were ended by the police at around 1 am on Thursday night by using force. During this action, the atmosphere became more tense due to the police removing the pictures of martyrs from the fast site and uprooting the entire tent.

According to administrative sources, this action was taken by a joint team of administration and police under the leadership of SDM City Rahul Siladia and CSP Devendra Pratap Singh. First, the hunger strikers were counseled and requested to end the fast, but when no consensus was reached, NSUI State Secretary Anand Pandey and other workers were forcibly removed from the fast site. Some were taken to the district hospital by police vehicle and some by ambulance, where they are undergoing treatment.

Started the fast on Monday

This case is related to the allegations of arbitrariness, ignoring the students' interests and inappropriate conduct against Degree College Principal SC Rai. Under the leadership of NSUI, students started a peaceful fast unto death in front of the college gate from Monday. The organization alleges that serious allegations have also been made against the Principal like harassing girl students on phone and making indecent comments.

NSUI leaders have termed the administration's dictatorial attitude as the force to end the fast despite the peaceful movement. After this development, Congress party has also openly come in support of NSUI. Congress alleges that the administration, under pressure from the BJP government, has tried to suppress the voice of students' interests and will soon submit a memorandum demanding action in this matter.

Accused of working at the behest of BJP

On Friday, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee held a press conference on this issue and raised questions on the role of police and district administration. State spokesperson Ritesh Tripathi said that forcefully ending the ongoing peaceful movement for students' interests is against democratic values. He told that under the guidance of MLA Siddharth Kushwaha, the Congress Party will soon agitate against this attitude.

MLA Siddharth Kushwaha said that it is extremely shameful that an attempt was made to crush a peaceful and harmonious movement by the administration under the pressure of power. This is a direct violation of freedom of expression.

Controversy also increased regarding audio clip

Students allege that basic facilities are being continuously neglected in the college. The sick room created for sick or injured students exists only on paper and there is no arrangement for it on the ground level. Protests have already been lodged on this issue.

Apart from this, NSUI had further intensified the agitation after an audio clip related to the principal surfaced. The organization claims that this audio raises serious questions on the principal's working style and attitude towards students.
