Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. A 16-year-old married minor died three months after being given inflammable substance in Geeta Colony police station area. The minor had gone against her family and married her relative. The allegation is that the husband committed the crime. The police have taken the body into their custody and handed it over to their relatives after post-mortem. The husband and his family are absconding since the death of the minor.
Young man forcibly married a girl
The minor lived with her family in Geeta Colony police station area. Father works as a street vendor in the markets. The father of the deceased told that his close relatives also live in the same house in which he lives. In July 2025, one of his relatives had taken his minor daughter to Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. He reached Rampur after a week in search of his daughter. Here the young man forcibly married his daughter.
Inflammable substance was given to drink in October
Later both of them came to Geeta Colony and started living. In October, his son-in-law forced his daughter to drink inflammable substance. When the condition of the minor deteriorated, the relatives took him to Lok Nayak Hospital. After treatment, he was brought home. During that time the family did not inform the hospital and police about the inflammable substance. When his health worsened during his stay at home, the family filed a POCSO case with the police. The minor died on February 7.
The accused husband was arrested
"On the complaint of the family, the police registered a POCSO case and arrested the husband. The victim and her family did not tell the police that the minor had been given inflammable substance to drink. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report comes."
