State Bureau, Chandigarh. Haryana Congress has strong objection to changing the name of MNREGA scheme started during the tenure of Congress to VB-G Ramji. According to the decision taken in the Central Working Committee meeting of the Congress, a state-wide protest will be organized in Haryana from January 5 against this.

Also, Congress District Presidents have been asked not to allow the names of genuinely eligible voters to be deleted from the voter lists in the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR). BJP, along with the Central Election Commission, is engaged in a conspiracy to remove the names of voters from the lists in a planned manner.

Haryana Congress President Rao Narendra Singh interacted with workers during a program organized on the 140th foundation day of the party in Chandigarh on Sunday. This is the first time after a long time that a state president of the Congress state office has participated in the program organized on the Foundation Day.

Till now, formalities regarding such events have been maintained by the state presidents. The formality is completed by instructing only the employees to participate in the birth anniversaries and tribute programs of great men of Congress. Haryana Congress President Rao Narendra hoisted the party flag and wore Seva Dal's Gandhi cap on the Congress's foundation day on Sunday.

Rao Narendra said that the Central Government has a problem with the Gandhi surname, hence the name of MNREGA was changed. This law is to crush and suppress the poor. MNREGA was not just a scheme, it was a principle of rights.

This means that crores of people of the country got minimum wage from this. He said that the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list is a planned conspiracy to curtail democratic rights. It will be necessary to go door-to-door to ensure that the names of voters from poor, Dalit, tribal and minority communities are not removed from the voter list.

The State President said that from the inception of the Congress Party till today, its basic mantra has been to protect the rights of the poor, farmers, laborers, youth and deprived classes. At present, planned attacks are being made on democracy, constitution and constitutional institutions in the country and state, which the Congress party will not tolerate under any circumstances.

Congress Party will continue to expose the failures of the BJP government by becoming the voice of the people from the streets to the House. Former MLA Pradeep Chaudhary, former MLA Jasbir Malaur, former MLA Lahiri Singh, state media in-charge Sanjeev Bhardwaj, state president of Mahila Congress Sudha Bhardwaj, Seva Dal chief Poonam Chauhan, Sunita Sharma, Phom Lal, former mayor Manveer Kaur Gill, Congress leaders Satpal Kaushik and Pawan Jain participated in the program.
