To deal with the war-time challenges, 'Black Out' and 'Air Raid' (air attack) mock drill was organized from 6 to 6.45 pm, making Padrauna's busiest Subhash Chowk the main centre. As soon as the air raid sirens sounded at exactly 6 o'clock in the evening, the entire area came into alert mode.
On the instructions of the administration, electricity was cut and within no time there was a 'black out' all around. The objective of the drill was to test the safety of civilians in war-like situations, coordination between various departments and quick response of disaster management.
During the mock drill, an attempt was made to make the scenario as realistic as possible. After the warning of air raid, citizens were trained to reach safe shelters. Soon after, simultaneous action began on several fronts. Firefighters demonstrated how to deal with arson situations.
Bomb disposal squad reached the spot
Showed the intricacies of bomb disposal squad, identification of suspicious objects and their disposal. The Civil Defense and Rescue team conducted a successful exercise in rescuing the injured from the debris of collapsed buildings and providing first aid.
As part of the medical response, a 'Green Corridor' exercise was conducted to immediately take the injured to the hospital through ambulances. The mock drill was led by ADM Vaibhav Mishra and ASP Siddharth Verma. SDM Padrauna Rishabh Pundir along with officers and employees of health, electricity and transport departments were present. District Disaster Management and Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers also played an active role in this.
Ended with all clear
After this intensive exercise which lasted for about 45 minutes, the all clear siren was sounded, after which life returned to normal. ADM Vaibhav Mishra said that this exercise not only helps in identifying the shortcomings of the system but also increases confidence among the common citizens. Appealed to the public not to be afraid of such drills, but to cooperate fully in this work.
