Jagran correspondent, Shahjahanpur. Another life was lost on Saturday due to monkey mischief and negligence of officials. The monkey pounced on Anshika who was feeding biscuits to one and a half year old Ansh on the terrace while holding her in her lap. The monkey snatched the packet of biscuits from her hand and ran away, but while trying to escape, Anshika along with Ansh slipped and fell down the stairs.
Ansh died due to deep head injury, while Anshika is undergoing treatment. Ansh, one and a half year old son of Pawan Yadav, a farmer of village Khaikheda, was playing in the courtyard of the house in the morning. At the same time, Pawan's elder brother Ravindra's sister-in-law Anshika arrived to feed him.
According to relatives, she picked up Ansh in her lap and took him to the terrace. She had a packet in her hand, in which she was taking out biscuits and feeding them to Ansh. At the same time, a monkey pounced to take the packet of biscuits from Anshika's hand. Seeing him, Anshika ran towards the stairs screaming.
Meanwhile, the monkey snatched the packet of biscuits and jumped to the other side, while Anshika's foot slipped in her haste. She slipped and fell down the stairs holding Ansh in her lap. Seeing the bleeding from both their bodies, their relatives immediately took them to Jalalabad Community Health Center. Ansh died after some treatment there. Tehsildar Anurag Dubey said that campaigns are conducted from time to time at the municipality and block level to catch monkeys.
No information has been received about the death of a child due to monkey attack in Khaikheda. We will send a team there on Sunday and inform the villagers about the problem. A letter will be written to the Block Development Officer and Village Secretary to arrest the monkey.
