Jagran correspondent, Bettiah (West Champaran). PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: The fear of more than 70 percent farmers of West Champaran being deprived of the 22nd installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is increasing.
Two special campaigns were run in the month of January under the joint aegis of Agriculture and Revenue Department to create Farmer ID in the district, but these campaigns could not give the expected results. A total of 2 lakh 76 thousand 731 farmers in the district are taking the benefit of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
Despite two special campaigns, till now only about 76 thousand farmers have been able to create Farmer ID. In such a situation, more than 50 percent of the beneficiary farmers are still deprived of Farmer ID. According to departmental sources, farmers whose Farmer ID is not made may not get the 22nd installment of the scheme.
E-KYC easy, but registration hurdle
E-KYC and farmer registration is mandatory to generate Farmer ID. The process of e-KYC is relatively easy, but due to lack of registration in the name of most of the farmers, farmer registration is not possible. Farmers are continuously visiting the zonal and raiyat offices to get the land registered in the name of their ancestors in their names, but the process of reform is not being completed.
Resentment increased among farmers
Dissatisfaction is increasing among farmers regarding this decision of the government. Farmers say that they have been paying rent to the government for the land registered in the name of their ancestors for years, yet now it is wrong to deprive them of Samman Nidhi only on the basis of Jamabandi. Farmers are feeling helpless due to lack of improvement in congestion in zonal offices. After getting the benefits till the 21st instalment, now there is an atmosphere of disappointment among the farmers due to the implementation of new rules.
