MP's 'Lokpath App-2' Will Be Launched, Will Give Tough Competition To Google Maps, Audio Alert On Black Spots Will Increase Road Safety

Digital Desk, Bhopal. The Public Works Department (PWD) is going to take a big step towards making road travel in Madhya Pradesh safer, smarter and more convenient than before. The department has prepared the state-of-the-art 'Lokpath App-2', which is said to be more useful and security-centric than Google Maps. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will formally launch this app on Saturday in the state level training program of the Public Works Department.

New model of technology and security

This app, developed in collaboration with Bhaskaracharya Institute of Gujarat, is considered to be the first experiment of its kind done by any state government in the country. The purpose of this app, prepared on the initiative of Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, is not only to provide guidance but also to take the quality of roads and passenger safety to new heights. Detailed and updated data of all the National Highways, State Highways and major district routes of the state will be available in Lokpath App-2.

Advance alert will be available on black spot

The most special and unique feature of Lokpath App-2 is its safety alert system. More than 450 accident-prone black spots identified on 142 highways of the state have been mapped in it. During the journey, as soon as the vehicle reaches one kilometer before a black spot, the app will give an audio alert warning the driver to control the speed. This warning will be repeated at a distance of 200 meters – this feature is not currently available even in Google Maps.

All-in-one guide for travelers

This app will not just be a navigation tool but a complete digital guide for travelers. In this, along with religious and tourist places, information about the nearest hospital, police station, hotel, toll plaza and toll rates will also be available. In case of emergency, users will be able to call an ambulance or 911 directly through the app. In case of an accident, the app will also tell which is the nearest hospital and what is the fastest way to reach there.

Public participation, accountability of engineers

Through Lokpath App-2, common citizens will also be able to monitor the quality of roads and bridges. If any pothole, crack or flaw in the construction is seen, a photo can be taken from the spot and uploaded directly on the app. Timeline will be fixed for the concerned engineers to resolve the complaint, which will ensure transparency and accountability.

Engineers will get special training

More than 1,500 engineers from across the state will participate in the state level program to be held on Saturday. During this time, the 'Capacity Building Framework' document and a booklet based on the innovations of the last two years will also be released. In the second session of the program, engineers will be given special training on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) to make technical and financial monitoring of large road and bypass projects more effective.
