This is what the morning scene looks like in Mussoorie, the queen of hills.
Correspondent, Jagran Mussoorie: Queen of Hills Mussoorie is all set for the Winterline Carnival to be held from 24th to 29th December. All preparations for the carnival have been completed. Mussoorie Festival Committee Secretary and Sub-District Magistrate Rahul Anand released the carnival brochure in the SDM office auditorium located in the court premises.
He said that this year the theme of the programs has been decided keeping in mind the silver jubilee of the establishment of Uttarakhand state. In which the struggle, culture and development of the state will be presented prominently.
The Sub-Collector informed that the first day of the Winterline Carnival will be dedicated to the founder of the Uttarakhand movement, late Indramani Badoni. A documentary based on his life will be screened on this occasion. Besides, staging of a play based on the life of Veerbhad Madho Singh Bhandari will also be a special attraction for the audience.
In view of the carnival, the entire Mussoorie city is decorated with attractive lights. The carnival will begin with a grand cultural procession on Wednesday 24th December, in which a glimpse of the development, folk culture and traditions of the state will be seen.
Major cultural programs will be organized at the Municipality Townhall, while day programs will be held at Landour Chowk, Shaheed Sthal, Garhwal Terrace, Gandhi Chowk and Company Bagh. Municipal President Meera Saklani and cultural program coordinator Rajendra Rawat were also present on this occasion.
Adventure and tourism activities will be special
During the Winterline Carnival, adventure and nature based programs like martial arts, karate demonstration, rock climbing, bird watching, trekking and photography will be organized by the Forest and Tourism Department.
Mountain bike and sports bike rally will also be the center of attraction. An effort will be made to show the history of Mussoorie through the museum located at George Everest. Apart from this, fashion show, food festival and star gazing programs based on traditional costumes of Uttarakhand will also make the carnival memorable.
Under the main cultural programs, there will be Madhosingh Bhandari drama on 24th December, Rohan Bhardwaj and Karishma Shah Night on 25th December, and performances by folk singers Reshma Shah, Meena Rana, Gajendra Rana, Saurabh Maithani and Sushil Sudriyal on 26th December. Himachali folk singer Vicky Chauhan on 27th December, Jitendra Panwar, Kishan Mahipal, Rajnikant Semwal, Vivek Nautiyal, Shivani Negi and Rock Night on 28th December, while Himnad Band and Nikhil D'Souza Night will be organized on 29th December.
