The body of 36-year-old Geeta Goswami, who was found hanging in a rented house near Amar Chowk in Narmadapuram city of the state on December 12, has now come out as a sensational murder story. The police had established a case and started investigation in this case which prima facie appeared to be suicide, but the needle of suspicion was pointing somewhere else. After five days of intensive investigation, the police exposed this mysterious death.
The lover ran away after hanging the dead body
Investigation revealed that Geeta was murdered by none other than her live-in partner Balram alias Golu Sen. After the murder, the accused hanged the body by making a noose of saree to make it look like suicide and fled from the spot. The police arrested Balram and presented him in the court, from where he was sent to jail.
Police found black marks on the neck of the woman's body, which deepened the suspicion. The post mortem report also confirmed murder. After this, two special investigation teams were formed. On the basis of evidence found at the spot, statements of relatives and CCTV footage, the police reached the accused. During strict interrogation, Balram confessed to his crime.

were living in live-in relationship for three-four years
Investigation revealed that Geeta Goswami and Balram Sen were living in a live-in relationship for the last three-four years. The accused had frequent visits to the woman's house, about which relatives and local people were also aware. On the basis of these facts the police decided the direction of investigation.
Had attempted murder before also
The accused confessed that during the live-in period, there used to be disputes and fights between the two on regular basis. Distressed by stress, he wanted to get rid of Geeta and was planning the murder for a long time. Geeta was alone at home on the night of the incident. Taking advantage of this, Balram strangled her with the thread of Kalava. To hide the murder, she made a noose with a saree and hanged the body, so that the case looked like suicide.
The accused was identified on the basis of evidence found at the spot and statements of relatives. After arresting the accused, he confessed to the crime during interrogation. The accused was produced in the court from where he was sent to jail.- Jitendra Pathak, SDOP, Narmadapuram.
