State Bureau, Jammu. The new complex of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly under construction in the winter capital Jammu will be completed by October 2027. The new complex will have all the modern facilities like the Parliament House. It will have a seating capacity of 114 members which can be increased as per requirement.

The complex will have four galleries with a seating capacity of 400 people. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Monday took stock of the under-construction complex and directed to take necessary steps to complete the project within the stipulated time.

He said that this complex, which will be built at a cost of Rs 13 crore, will have all the necessary facilities for the MLAs and Assembly Secretariat staff. It will have an archives and library. Apart from this, there will be two media galleries and one guest gallery and one speaker gallery.

There will be parking facility for 95 vehicles

The media gallery will have a seating capacity of 150-150 people, while the speaker and guest galleries will have a seating capacity of 35-35 people. Its basement will have facility for parking of 95 vehicles. Apart from this, there will be two canteens and a wellness centre. He said that our target is to complete the project by October 2027.

If everything goes as per plan, the budget session of the year 2028 will be held in the new assembly complex itself. This project was pending for the last seven-eight years. The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken the initiative to complete it soon. The Speaker and the Chief Minister themselves are monitoring the project.
