Water tank under construction in Mohaddipur. Awakening

Rajiv Ranjan, Gorakhpur. There is going to be a historic initiative in the field of drinking water supply for the city residents. For the first time, a system of uninterrupted water supply is being started in the metropolis 24×7 i.e. seven days a week and day and night. The biggest feature of this new system being started by the Municipal Water Corporation will be that water will reach even multi-storey buildings without a motor. As a pilot project, it is being started from Sardar Bhagat Singh Nagar Ward (Mohaddipur). By June, the people of the ward will start getting the benefits of this facility.

This project is being considered an important step in taking the city towards a modern and smart water supply system. Overall, the 24×7 water supply scheme will prove to be a new beginning of convenience, quality and reliability for the city residents. According to Jal Nigam officials, the 24×7 water supply scheme will make water management more effective. Due to continuous supply, the possibility of dirty water entering the pipeline will also be reduced. Along with this, awareness will increase among people about the correct use of water. The picture will change with the scheme of Rs. 21 crore. Under the 24×7 water supply scheme prepared by Jal Nigam, about Rs. 21 crore is being spent on this project. The objective of the scheme is to improve the quality, pressure and availability of drinking water in the city. After the success of the pilot project, it is likely to be implemented in other wards also. Till now water supply in the city has been at fixed time, due to which people had to depend on motor and tank to store water. Under the new scheme, water supply will be continuous 24 hours. This will not only remove water shortage, but will also reduce electricity consumption and use of motors. The most special thing about this scheme is that water will be able to reach up to 21 meter high building, i.e. about six floors, without a motor. For this, high pressure water supply system is being developed. This will provide great relief to people living in flats and high-rise buildings. 28 kilometer new pipeline, old one will be replaced. Under the project, about 28 kilometer long new pipeline is being laid. Along with this, dilapidated and old pipelines will be completely replaced. This will also prevent the problem of leakage, contaminated drinking water and wastage of water.

Construction of three big pumps and new tank: Under the scheme, three big pump houses will be built. Apart from this, a large water tank will be constructed behind Orion Mall. The capacity of this tank will be 1700 kiloliters and its height will be kept at 26 meters. From the tank of this height, water will reach the upper floor of the building about 21 meters high (six floors). At present the height of the city's water tanks is about 20 meters, so the new tank will help in supplying water with higher pressure. 2616 houses will get direct benefit. Under the pilot project, new house connections will be given to 2616 houses. Meters will also be installed in every house to measure water usage. With this, water consumption can be monitored. Consumers will also be able to assess their actual usage. At present, there is no provision for charging under this scheme even after meter is installed.

The scheme for 24 hours water supply, seven days a week is being started from Mohaddipur. People will start getting its benefits by June.
