Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. Police registered another case against fake IAS. It had taken Rs 4.50 lakh to get land from a farmer of Bhathat. After being arrested, the victim farmer came to know about the fraud. On the instructions of SP City, Gulriha police has registered a case against six people including the accused Gaurav Kumar alias Lalit and his wife Pooja and started investigation. Bhathat resident Brahma Singh told that Gaurav Kumar lived in a rented room near the Medical College. He described himself as an IAS officer of 2022 batch. On June 27, 2025, he met Parmanand Gupta, resident of Lachchipur Santosh Nagar in Gorakhnath area and Abhishek Gupta, resident of Seemagarhi, Riga, Bihar.
Both of them approached the IAS officer posing as his PS. They were lured to get land in Phulwariya and Naharpur area. Claimed that his sir is Gaurav Kumar Singh IAS, whose administrative reach is very strong. He easily provides government tenders and land related work to the people. Following their advice, Brahm Singh deposited a total of Rs 4.50 lakh in the accounts of the accused on different dates between August 20 and October 7, 2025. During this time he came to know that Gaurav Kumar is a fake IAS, his real name is Lalit Kishore. He is cheating people by posing as a fake IAS. The victim alleged in the complaint that Parmanand Gupta, Abhishek Kumar, Ramnayan Gupta, Parmanand's daughter Sanyogita Gupta and fake IAS's wife Pooja Singh together grabbed money from him by using fake documents and fake IAS identity card.
When they asked for the money given back, the accused refused. Gulriha police station incharge Ityanand Pandey said that investigation was conducted on the complaint related to land. A case has been registered if the allegations in the preliminary investigation report were found to be true. In this, the accused who are out of jail will be arrested.

Police investigation has also revealed that Gaurav Kumar has cheated many people in UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh with the help of this identity. Gulriha police station had arrested Gaurav Kumar alias Lalit, resident of Sitamarhi district of Bihar, on 10 December 2025.
He used to call himself an IAS officer. With the cheated money, he had hired a security personnel as a bouncer, apart from this he used to drive in an Innova car. Two more vehicles were running in the form of escort in front and behind his car. In which PS and bouncer used to sit.
With the help of this identity, he cheated people of crores of rupees in UP, Bihar, MP as well as Jharkhand. After coming to Gorakhpur, the police exposed him. Police have arrested accused Lalit Kumar, his brother-in-law Abhishek Kumar and associate Parmanand Gupta and sent them to jail.
