Jagran correspondent, Syalde. A woman who had gone to wash clothes on the banks of Ramganga died by drowning in the river. About 27 hours later, his body was found lying on the river bank some distance away. It is feared that the woman might have fallen into the river after she lost her balance due to her feet slipping. According to Masi police, the real cause of death will be clear only after post-mortem. On the other hand, there is mourning in the village after the incident.

Manju Devi, 45, a resident of remote Parthola village of the development block, lived alone at home. Her husband Kishan Singh had passed away a few years ago. She was childless. The woman's mother-in-law lives with other relatives in Delhi. According to local people, Manju Devi went out towards Ramganga river to wash clothes at around 10 am on Tuesday.

But when she did not return home even till evening, the people of the neighborhood searched for her. When no trace was found, the villagers called the woman's brother. She lodged a missing complaint at the nearby Masi police post and requested for the safe recovery of Manju Devi. But no clue was found.

Here on Wednesday the woman was searched again. A search was carried out along the banks in fear of drowning in the river and his body was recovered in the afternoon. Local public representative Taradat Sharma said that another cloth was wrapped around the body of the deceased. Probably she drowned while trying to retrieve the clothes washed away in the river.

Masi Chowki in-charge Satyendra Yadav inspected and said that prima facie it seems that the woman might have fallen into the river due to slipping of her feet. The accident occurred due to drowning in deep water after being swept away in the strong current. Police have sent the body for post-mortem.
