Union Home Minister Amit Shah with Nitin Nabin, wife Deepmala Srivastava, son and family members.
Radha Krishna, Patna. It is often said in politics that the price of success here has to be paid from personal life. But the story of Nitin Nabin, National Working President of BJP and Minister of Urban Development and Road Construction in Bihar Government, challenges this notion. This is the story of a leader who describes himself as 'a person who came into politics accidentally', and a wife who had put aside her studies and career dreams to take care of the family.
Different tastes, same thinking
Nitin Nabin is inspired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while his wife, Dr. Deepmala Srivastava, a banker by profession, considers Prime Minister Narendra Modi as her role model.
In an interview, when both of them were asked about their favorite leaders, Deepmala's answer was emotional.
She says, 'In today's time, there is no leader like Narendra Modi in BJP. When there is disappointment in life, we remember Modi ji.
It seems that if they can handle the country in such difficult circumstances, then why can't we handle our small problems.
Whereas Nitin Nabin's perspective is slightly different, but equally deep. He says, 'It is not easy to be successful in politics. Many times leaders are successful politically, but not family wise.
I have seen Sushil Modi setting ideals and Amit Shah making a name for himself through his hard work without any social equation.
Nitin Nabin repeatedly emphasizes that politics is not for everyone. He says, 'I never wanted to enter politics. But life created such a situation that I was forced to take this path. Politics is a different world. Only those who have the courage to struggle can survive in this. There is no predicting its ups and downs.
He admits that he initially doubted himself, 'I had questions about how far or how long I would be able to walk.'
From arranged marriage to strong bonding
The marriage of Nitin Nabin and Deepmala is an arranged marriage. About 15 years ago, both their parents fixed this relationship. Only after marriage both of them were able to know each other properly.
Deepmala says smilingly, 'Nitin is a very calm and composed person. I always wanted that such a person should come into my life, who would understand my feelings and support me in every situation.
Despite being busy with politics, it is not easy to manage the family. Deepmala says, 'First it was the responsibility of one city, then the entire state and now the national level has a role to play. The children are small, the family is small. We both fulfill every responsibility together.
relationship of understanding without saying
Deepmala tells that after living together for 15 years, an untold rapport has developed between the two. Now we don't need to say anything to each other. We understand who needs what. The best thing is that Nitin never fights. Even if I feel like fighting, he doesn't let it happen,' she says laughing.
Father's legacy, mother's dream
Nitin Nabin's father Naveen Kishore Sinha was a fighter of the JP movement and became a strong pillar of the party from Jan Sangh to BJP. The family always lived in simplicity. It is said that Naveen Kishore Sinha lived in a rented house with his wife and children all his life.
Nitin Nabin was studying engineering at the time of his father's death on 31 December 2005. Then his age was only 26 years. After the death of his father, mother Mala Sinha decided that her son would take over the political legacy. As a result, Nitin had to leave his studies midway.
Nitin says, 'As long as mother was there, everything was very smooth. After mother left, wife took care of everything. The main reason for my success is that my wife took the entire responsibility of the house.
Election journey: no defeat
After the death of his father, Nitin Nabin won the by-election from Patna West (now Bankipur) seat in 2006. After this he did not look back.
He strengthened his political hold by winning four consecutive assembly elections in 2010, 2015, 2020 and now 2025. In the year 2021, he was made a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet for the first time.
Today at the age of 45, Nitin Nabin is the Minister of Urban Development and PWD in the Government of Bihar.
unfulfilled dream for mother
Nitin Nabin's eyes become moist when he talks about his mother Mala Sinha. He says, 'I wanted to build a house in Patna for my mother. I used to call her ‘Maiya’. Wanted to bring them to my home. But before that, mother left us.
Property, Car and Lawsuits
A total of five criminal cases are registered against BJP candidate from Bankipur, Nitin Nabin. He has movable assets worth Rs 92.71 lakh, but no immovable assets. His wife Deepmala has movable assets worth Rs 66.52 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 1.47 crore.
Talking about cars, Nitin Nabin has Scorpio and Innova. The total loan is Rs 56.66 lakh.
Politics, family and balance
Nitin Nabin's story is not just about reaching power, but also a story of struggle, responsibility and balance of relationships. While on one hand there is a leader who takes inspiration from Amit Shah, on the other hand there is a wife who considers Narendra Modi as her ideal.
The choices of both may be different, but the thinking is the same, not to run away from conflict, and never to leave the family behind.
