IAS Sanjeev Hans got relief
Jagran correspondent, Patna. Bihar government has given major administrative relief to senior IAS officer Sanjeev Hans and ended his suspension. On the instructions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the General Administration Department issued an official order in this regard on Monday. With this, the way has been cleared for his re-deployment in the state government. It is believed that soon he may be given the responsibility of some important department.
Sanjeev Hans has been the former Principal Secretary of the Energy Department and has long experience in administrative service. He was suspended in October 2024 after his arrest in a case related to money laundering and corruption.
After the action of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), he remained in judicial custody in Beur jail of Patna for almost a year. During this period, his service status was also under question.
However, after getting conditional bail from Patna High Court in the month of October, the circumstances started changing. While granting him bail, the High Court had imposed the condition that he would not go out of the country and would remain regularly present in the court during the hearing of the case.
After getting bail, Sanjeev Hans had also contributed to the General Administration Department, after which speculations about ending the suspension had intensified.
According to Sanjeev Hans's advocate Dr. Farooq Khan, the court pointed out several serious flaws during the hearing of the case.
The Court believed that no concrete evidence was presented by the prosecution to prove that the accused had used the money earned from crime through financial transactions. On this basis, the court granted bail considering that custody was not necessary.
Government sources say that after the suspension is over, brainstorming has started on the new posting of Sanjeev Hans.
The State Government may appoint them in the appropriate department considering their experience and seniority. However, at present no official announcement has been made on this.
It is noteworthy that in the same case, the High Court has also granted bail to three other people associated with private companies accused in the alleged bribery and money laundering case related to smart meters and other tenders.
All of them were in jail for about ten months. After this decision of the court, the way has been cleared for these accused also to come out of jail.
Overall, the end of the suspension of Sanjeev Hans is being considered important from both administrative and political point of view. Now everyone's eyes are on when and with what responsibility the state government brings them back into active role.
