Relatives of kidnapped laborer in Niger waiting for their loved ones.
Jagran correspondent, Bagodar/Giridih. Even after eight months have passed, no clue has been found about the kidnapped migrant laborers of Bagodar block of Dondlo and Mundro in Niger, Africa. The relatives of the kidnapped laborers keep worrying about them day and night. At the same time, they keep waiting for the phone day and night to ring and get good news.
Dainik Jagran reached the homes of the kidnapped laborers and heard the pain from their relatives. The relatives of these laborers have not received any kind of financial help from the government. Besides, the company is also not sending salaries to the homes of these workers for the last five months.
Due to this there is a lot of trouble at home. After the kidnapping, the company has sent the salaries of the workers to their relatives only once in three months. Shanti Devi, mother of Dondlo's kidnapped laborer Sanjay Mahato, had tears in her eyes remembering her son. He said that he can't sleep the whole night remembering his son.
Sanjay's wife Soni Devi said that nothing is being told by the company. It is said that talks are going on. A full eight months have passed since hearing this. The money has been sent only once by the company. After this the money has not been sent for five months.
There are three small children and old parents in his house. Children ask when will Papa come. Rupa Devi, wife of kidnapped laborer Faljit Mahato, said that eight months have passed since the kidnapping, but money has been sent only once by the company.
Neither money is being sent by the company nor any financial assistance is being received from the government. Due to this, children are facing a lot of problems in their education. My husband is the only earning member of the family. The wife of laborer Raju Mahato told that the company has not been sending money for the last five months. Nor is any financial assistance being provided by the company.
Let us tell you that on April 25, 2025, Sanjay Mahato, Faljit Mahato, Raju Mahato, Chandrika Mahato of Dondlo of Bagodar block and Utam Mahato of Mundro were kidnapped by armed criminals in Niger, Africa. All these workers had gone to Niger in January 2024 from home to work in the tower line of Kalpataru Company.
In this matter, relatives of the kidnapped laborers have complained to Union Minister cum Koderma MP Annapurna Devi, Bagodar MLA Nagendra Mahato, Mandu MLA Nirmal Mahato, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, former MLA Vinod Singh, Giridih Deputy Commissioner. But the workers have not been released yet. Bihar's CPI(ML) MP Sudama Prasad has also raised the issue in the Lok Sabha.
