The much awaited sports stadium in Gurugram will now be ready one year behind schedule.

Sandeep Ratan, Gurugram. The much awaited sports stadium being built in Wazirabad, Gurugram will now be ready one year behind schedule. The project, which was started with a deadline of July 2026, is now expected to be completed in 2027. The pace of this sports complex proposed on a total of 11.07 acres is stuck due to possession of one and a half acre land and administrative hurdles. The pace of construction was also affected due to delay in starting the work and imposition of grapes in between. At present, about 30 percent of the work has been completed. A total of 11.07 acres of land was earmarked for the project, but at present only 9.55 acres of land is available with the corporation. The corporation has not been able to get possession of the remaining one and a half acre land. This land is under the jurisdiction of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP), which has to be vacated and handed over to the corporation. The matter is currently pending in the court.
Two multipurpose halls and canteen block are getting ready
At present, construction work of two multipurpose halls and a canteen block is going on in the campus. The structural framework is being erected rapidly and so far about 30 percent of the construction work has been completed. Officials claim that the pace of work will be increased as soon as the land related hurdle is removed.
Players will get state-of-the-art facilities
Modern facilities for sports activities like Kabaddi, Shooting Range, Judo, Boxing, Gymnastics, Basketball, Badminton and Cricket are being developed in the stadium complex. Apart from this, cycle track and skating ring will also be prepared for the players. Keeping in mind the competitions and training camps, there will be separate parking arrangements for 175 vehicles, so that there is no chaos during big events.
Young players will be ready, will get recognition
With the opening of Wazirabad Sports Stadium, young players of the city will get an opportunity to prepare for national and international level. The project can gain momentum if the dispute over the remaining 1.5 acres of land is resolved soon. At present, the dream of this 11.07 acre sports stadium will be realized only in the next year i.e. 2027 instead of 2026.
