The 22 km long drain between Lado Sarai and Pulprahladpur will be redeveloped.
State Bureau, New Delhi. In the coming time, a major problem of waterlogging in South Delhi will be solved. In view of the problem of waterlogging in MB (Mehrauli-Badarpur) road from Mehrauli to Badarpur and the surrounding areas, the Delhi government has decided to redevelop the big drain here. Work on this work is expected to start in the next few months.
Under this scheme, the government is estimated to spend Rs 387 crore on the redevelopment of the 22 km long drain between Lado Sarai to Pulprahladpur near Mehrauli. At present the condition of this drain is bad. The drain is broken at many places and its width is also less. It has been placed before the Expenditure and Finance Committee of Delhi Government for financial approval. This project may get approval soon.
Let us tell you here that due to slight rainfall, MB Road gets submerged in water at many places and this road gets filled with water from the surrounding colonies. This problem has persisted for years. There is frequent waterlogging especially from Batra Hospital bus stop till the turn of Sangam Vihar police station. After that the road becomes very narrow and the possibility of accidents also increases.
Due to lack of proper drainage system, the road gets filled with drains and sewer water for half a kilometre. Due to this, people face a lot of difficulty in transportation. Due to this, people have to face traffic jams every day. This road is also the main route to Sangam Vihar and 12 colonies.
Due to this, there is movement of people till late night. Waterlogging also occurs on the road leading from Sangam Vihar to Khanpur. Local residents say that the main reason for waterlogging is the poor condition of the drain passing along the road. The drain is under the Public Works Department.
