Jagran correspondent, Patna. State Women's Commission, Patna has taken suo motu cognizance of the shameful statement made by Girdhari Lal Sahu, husband of Uttarakhand Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, on the women of Bihar.

State Women Commission Chairperson Apsara has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, calling the statement extremely condemnable and deeply hurtful to women. Every woman of Bihar is feeling humiliated. In the statement, Sahu has said that girls are available for Rs 20-25 thousand.

The Commission believes that it is extremely unfortunate that a member of the same family in which the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Development like Rekha Arya resides makes such objectionable statements towards women.

Bihar State Women Commission, Patna considers this statement as a direct attack on the self-respect of the women of Bihar. The Chief Minister should take immediate action from his level. The Chairperson of the State Women's Commission said that such statements reflect a corrupt mentality. Women of Bihar have a big contribution in the development of the country.
