Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. Odisha Police has achieved great success in the ongoing campaign against cyber crime. Till the ninth day of ‘Operation Cyber ​​Kavach’, 2067 Mule (Benami) bank accounts have been investigated across the state.

During this period, 146 cyber criminals have been arrested, while legal notices have been issued to 609 suspected account holders and associates.

In this special campaign being run on the instructions of Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, emphasis has been laid on breaking the financial back of cyber criminals. The District Cyber ​​Crime Unit is continuously taking action under the direct supervision of the District SP and DCP. The entire operation is being coordinated by the Cyber ​​Crime Unit of the CID Crime Branch.

More than 180 cases registered

So far, 166 cyber cases related to Mule Bank accounts, 7 cases related to check withdrawal and 7 cases related to fake SIM PoS have been registered. According to police sources, these accounts were being used to transfer the fraudulent amount.

Strict action in Sambalpur, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj

After investigation of 51 accounts in Sambalpur district, 14 cases were registered and 19 accused were arrested. 8 accused were arrested in 7 cases in Kendujhar. Notices and arrest action have been taken in dozens of cases in many districts including Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara and Kalahandi.

The Director General of Police has clearly said that digital security of common citizens is the top priority. Operation Cyber ​​Kavach will be further intensified in the coming days to completely destroy the financial network of cyber thugs.
