Delhi Traffic Police launched a major campaign under Operation 'Chakravyuh'.

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Delhi Traffic Police launched a major campaign under Operation 'Chakravyuh' to curb violation of traffic rules in the capital. On the instructions of Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the Traffic Management Division along with the local police and PCR conducted this special campaign for two weeks from December 1.

During this period, a total of 24,841 challans were issued for various violations of traffic rules. At the same time, 144 vehicles found involved in serious traffic offenses and theft cases were seized. Apart from this, an FIR was also registered in Timarpur police station after narcotics were recovered from a vehicle.

Under the campaign, traffic police, police personnel from local police stations and PCR vans were deployed at various levels in a planned manner for two hours daily. Police personnel were deployed at all entry and exit points at busy intersections, major market hubs and accident-prone areas, so that no traffic rule violator could escape action.

The main objective of Operation 'Chakravyuh' was to curb repeated traffic violations and strengthen road safety. During the campaign, strict action was taken against driving without helmet, triple riding, drunk driving, rash driving (including wrong side driving), use of mobile phone while driving, breaking traffic signals and other serious violations.

According to Shashank Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Management Division, Traffic Operation Chakravyuh has received positive response and appreciation from the law abiding general public. This campaign has proven effective in improving road discipline and ensuring adherence to traffic rules. The Traffic Police is continuously committed to maintain safe, smooth and disciplined traffic system in the capital through strict, proactive policing and cooperation of the public.
