Outsourced Energy Corporation Worker Dies Due To Electrocution In Jageshwar, Investigation Ordered

Jagran correspondent, Almora. An outsourced employee of the Energy Corporation died tragically after getting electrocuted while repairing the power line in Jageshwar Dham area. The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Puran Singh, resident of Dhanman, Jhankar Sem. There has been a wave of mourning in the area after the incident.

There was power supply in Jageshwar Dham and surrounding areas for the last three days. The fault was caused by the fall of a big pine tree on the power line near Jageshwar.

After receiving information about the fault, the electricity department team reached the spot to repair the line. Puran Singh was pulling an electric wire during line improvement work at around 6 pm on Saturday evening, when suddenly there was a current in the wire and he got caught in it.

Puran Singh fell on the spot as soon as he was electrocuted. Colleagues tried to save him, but by then he had died. As soon as information about the incident was received, departmental officials and local people reached the spot. Further action is being taken after taking possession of the dead body.

Executive Engineer of Energy Corporation, Kanhaiya Ji Mishra said that information about the incident has been received. He said the actual cause of death was being investigated and necessary departmental action would be taken.

At the same time, family members have alleged lack of safety equipment and proper precautions. The incident has once again raised questions on the safety arrangements of employees during power line improvement work.
