NHAI has decided to create parking for three thousand vehicles under the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway in Gandhi Nagar. NHAI has issued tenders for parking. Soon the construction work of parking will be started here.

The problem of traffic jam has persisted in Gandhi Nagar Market for a long time. Thousands of shopkeepers come here every day for shopping as it is also a wholesale market for readymade clothes. Not only this, foreigners also come here for shopping, but basic facilities like parking are not available here.

There was a demand for making parking here for a long time. According to NHAI rules, parking cannot be made under the expressway, but in view of the problem of severe traffic jam in Gandhi Nagar, it has been decided to make parking.

One thousand cars and two thousand two-wheelers will be parked

The parking capacity will be one thousand cars and two thousand two-wheelers. In such a situation, all the vehicles coming to the market will be able to get parking comfortably. Not only this, there is also a plan to build an EV charging station in the parking lot. The EVs of the people coming here will also be easily charged.

Union Minister and local MP Harsh Malhotra said that in view of the problem of Gandhi Nagar, he had raised this problem with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

After this, the rules were changed due to special circumstances. Only after this, permission has been given to make parking under the expressway. Tenders have been issued for this. Construction will start soon.

Toilets and basic facilities will also be available

Under the project, a big public toilet will also be built in the parking complex, in which there will be a separate block for women. Special attention will be given to cleanliness, water and regular maintenance, so that people visiting the market can get basic facilities.

According to Harsh Malhotra, the target has been set to open the parking for the general public after completing the construction work within the next one to one and a half months.
