Jagran correspondent, Patna. Under the Smart City initiative in the capital, online booking facility is being started to simplify and organize the process of last rites in the state-of-the-art crematorium under construction at Bans Ghat.

After the inauguration, the bereaved relatives will get relief from long queues and chaos in the cremation grounds and they will be able to secure a slot for the last rites while sitting at home. This system is being developed with the aim of increasing transparency and ensuring time saving through digital platform.

This facility will be provided by Patna Municipal Corporation through WhatsApp chatbot, 24-hour helpline and dedicated online portal. The process of developing the portal is in the final stages.

According to the available information, people will be able to book slots directly by sending messages on WhatsApp chatbot number 9264447449.

Currently, there are five service options available in the chatbot, in which the option of crematorium booking will also be added. Apart from this, service request can be lodged by calling the helpline 24 hours. If needed, the help desk team will also provide assistance to the relatives in on-spot registration at the crematorium premises.

After logging in on the online portal through mobile number and OTP, the type of crematorium can be selected by filling in the details of the deceased and the booking will be completed as per the available slot.

The facility of advance booking of hearse service, wood and puja material will also be provided on the digital platform. There will be option of online payment gateway and UPI for payment. Once the booking is complete, a confirmation message will be sent to the family members' mobile through SMS.

Certificates will be issued online

After the completion of the cremation process, death certificate and burning certificate will be issued online, which can be downloaded from the portal.

Municipal Corporation officials believe that this arrangement will make the last rites process more respectable, transparent and convenient and the family members will get relief from unnecessary running around in times of crisis.

After the launch of this project, modern and organized funeral facilities will be available to the city residents. Let us inform that the construction of the state-of-the-art crematorium at a cost of Rs 89.40 crore has reached the final stage.

This modern cremation complex being developed by Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUDCO) will be equipped with new facilities. Modern technology is being used in the newly constructed crematorium, which will be helpful in reducing pollution and environmental damage.
