The pressure of vehicles on Agra's MG Road is like this.
Jasan, Agra. Half lanes are going to be increased on MG Road and Mall Road which are facing jam. Both the four-lane roads will be widened. The same change is going to happen on National Highway-19 and Sultanpura Road also. The team of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) will start work on the roads from this month.
The size of the divider will be reduced. Saplings will be planted and railings of two to three meters will also be installed on both sides. This will stop it from passing through the divider. Which are cut at designated places. Pedestrians will be able to pass through those cuts only. Similarly, two-wheeler drivers will not be able to cross the pedestrian crossing.
These will be the changes:
MG Road: MG Road is six km long from Bhagwan Talkies Square to Avantibai Square. Presently this road has four lanes. Metro work is going on on the road. Places where the road is narrow. There the footpath has been broken and moved back by one to one and a half feet. Due to this, more half-lanes have also emerged.
Earlier the divider was wider. The new divider will be thin at the bottom and thick at the top. With this it will occupy less space. Reflective tape will be installed along the sidewalk. Street lights will also be installed. Illegal cuts will be stopped after the survey. This work will be done after June 2026. A new white strip will be made and radium lights will also be installed. Blinkers will be installed near intersections.
Mall Road: It is 2.5 km long from Pratappura Post Office to Circuit House Square. Metro work is also going on in the final stage on this road. Pillars have been made on the divider. This road is also of four lanes.
New dividers will be constructed by UPMRC soon. Wherever there is a footpath on the shore. There will be interlocking. Proper arrangements for drainage will be made. There will be lighting and beautification work on both sides of the road.
National Highway: Metro work is going on here in two phases. The work of the first phase includes from Sikandra Tiraha to Khandari Square and the second phase from Bhagwan Talkies Square to Kalindi Vihar. A new divider will be built on the highway. Its height will be up to two meters. After this railing will be installed.
This will also curb the problem of illegal cuts. Will not be able to pass from one side to the other easily. This will reduce accidents. Suddenly a cyclist or pedestrian will not appear. The work of the first phase will start this month and the work of the second phase will start from April.
Sultanpura Road: It is a two lane road. The road will not be widened. Only the divider will be done in a better way than before. All security arrangements will be made.
There will be an increase in the width of MG Road and Mall Road. The survey has been done. The work will be done in a better way from safety and security point of view.
