Plane with advertising banner falls into sea in Brazil, pilot dies tragically (Photo-X)
DigitalDesk, Rio de Janeiro. A tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon near Brazil's famous Copacabana Beach, when an ultralight aircraft carrying an advertising banner fell into the sea. The pilot died in this accident.
According to local authorities, the accident occurred at around 12:30 pm (1530 GMT). The plane fell nose-down into the sea, footage of which was captured in security cameras. The pilot's body has been recovered and sent to the medical examiner for identification. At present there is no information about any other passengers or victims.
Fire department teams are conducting search operations with the help of jetskis, inflatable boats, divers and helicopters. Sonar equipment is also being used to search for possible debris and other victims.
The aircraft was a Cessna 170A model from an advertising company. The Brazilian Air Force has started an investigation into the cause of the accident. This accident happened just before the New Year celebrations, when a large number of people were present on the beach. Eyewitnesses said that there was a loud noise while the plane was falling and the banner also fell into the water, causing chaos on the beach.
