Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The special CBI court at Rouse Avenue has convicted and sentenced two former officials of the bank in a bank fraud case of about Rs 4 crore involving the Jorbagh branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB).

Special Judge Sunaina Sharma has sentenced the then Chief Manager and Branch Head Kulwinder Kaur Johar and Senior Manager Ranjeev Suneja to three years of rigorous imprisonment each. Along with this, a fine of Rs 75-75 thousand has also been imposed on both of them. The court has also convicted the bank's panel advocate Narendra Singh Parihar and sentenced him to two and a half years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50 thousand.

According to CBI, the agency had registered a case in this matter on July 11, 2013. The allegation was that Sanjeev Dixit, said to be the owner of MS Shankar Metals, entered into a criminal conspiracy with Sanjay Sharma, owner of MS Super Machines, Indra Rani and other unidentified persons. The accused obtained cash credit facility of Rs 4 crore from Jorbagh branch of PNB through fake and forged property documents.

Investigation revealed that Sanjeev Dixit, in connivance with the then bank officials Kulwinder Kaur Johar and Ranjeev Suneja and panel advocate NS Parihar, got this loan approved on the basis of fake property and KYC documents. After this, the loan amount was used for other purposes through fake companies and bogus bank accounts.

After completion of investigation, CBI had filed charge sheet against Sanjeev Dixit alias Sanjay Sharma, NS Parihar, Kulwinder Kaur Johar, Ranjeev Suneja and private individuals Rahul Sharma and Rajeev Sharma. After the trial, the court convicted the bank officials and the panel lawyer. CBI said that the main accused in this case, Sanjeev Dixit, is absconding and has been declared a fugitive, while Rahul Sharma and Rajeev Sharma were acquitted by the court.
