376 cartons of English liquor seized from container on NH-19
Dialogue thread, Barachatti (Gaya). Before the arrival of the New Year, Gaya District Police has dealt a major blow to the plans of the liquor mafia. During an intensive vehicle check conducted on Delhi-Kolkata National Highway Path 19 on Sunday near Block Mod under Barachatti police station area, a huge quantity of illicit English liquor was recovered from a container. During this time, the police also arrested the container driver from the spot.
Police had received secret information that a large consignment of liquor was being sent from Jharkhand to Bihar for the New Year. Based on the information, Barachatti police conducted a special vehicle checking operation near Block Mor. In this sequence, a suspicious container was stopped.
376 boxes of English liquor hidden inside the container recovered
Upon search, 376 boxes of English liquor kept hidden inside the container were recovered, the total quantity of which was estimated to be around four thousand litres. In this regard, Police Inspector cum Station Head Amrendra Kishore said that the recovered liquor consignment was being taken from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand to Patna, the capital of Bihar.
The arrested driver has been identified as Pukhraj, a resident of village Mithiberi, police station Bond, district Barmer, Rajasthan. The driver is being interrogated and information about the entire network related to liquor smuggling is being collected.
Liquor mafia more active
The police station chief further said that the liquor mafia becomes more active in view of the New Year, that is why an intensive vehicle checking campaign is being conducted on the border and national highways. The recovered liquor has been confiscated and the container has also been kept safe in the police station premises.
Action stirs up liquor mafia
He clarified that in this matter an FIR has been registered under the Bihar Alcohol Prohibition and Excise Act and further legal action is being taken. Also, other people involved in this smuggling will be identified and arrested soon.
This big action taken before the New Year has created a stir among the liquor mafia, while the activeness of the police has strengthened the confidence of the people of the area regarding security and law and order.
