Jagran correspondent, Badaun. A strict stance has been taken in the matter of negligence in distribution of nutrition by Anganwadi workers. The month of February is about to end and till now 30 percent of the nutritional food has not been distributed. During the review, negligent Anganwadi workers were identified. In this, notice of termination of service has been issued to 179 workers, while the honorarium of 663 workers has been stopped.
There are 2940 Anganwadi centers operating in the district. Nutritional food is being provided to 1,77,950 pregnant/lactating women and children of 0-6 years at these centres. Porridge, pulses and edible oil received from NAFED are distributed every month through face authentication system. Apart from this, fortified rice is made available through Kotedars.
Badaun: Development block with least progress in nutrition distribution
District Program Officer Pramod Kumar Singh said that so far only 67 percent of nutritional food has been distributed under the face authentication system in the month of February, while there are two days left for the month to end. It is clear from this that more than 30 percent of the nutritional food is still lying undistributed at the centres, which has to be distributed within the stipulated time.
He said that when it was reviewed, the names of a total of 179 Anganwadi workers who made less distribution came to light. Termination proceedings have been initiated against them. Nutrition distribution by these workers has been found to be between zero to 10 percent.
Told that the workers to whom termination notices have been issued mainly include Seema of Biharipur village of Dataganj, Kamlesh of Khunak village of Jagat, Aarti Kumar of Lalupur Nagariya village of Kadarchowk, Prana Devi of Semra Banveerpur village of Sahaswan, Parveen of Sabdalpur village of Ambiyapur.
Apart from this, a notice has been issued to stop the honorarium of a total of 663 Anganwadi workers who were distributing less nutrition. He clarified that if the nutrition is not distributed within two days, an amount equal to the value of the nutrition will be recovered.
