Communication Assistant, Angada (Ranchi). Now a political battle has erupted over development schemes in Silli assembly constituency of Jharkhand. The latest controversy is regarding the foundation stone of a guardwall in Jintupidhi village of Barvadag Panchayat.
Local JMM leaders have expressed strong objection to the foundation stone laid by Silli MLA Amit Kumar late on Monday night, calling it a violation of rules and a means of 'obliging one's own'.
Accused of burying stones at night
Jintupidhi village head cum senior JMM leader Amit Singh Munda alias Gadam has launched a scathing attack on the foundation stone laying ceremony. He says that the MLA laid the foundation stone of the guardwall near Gutikocha drain late at night without any prior notice and without any public information. Serious allegations against JMM leader
Benefit to relatives: Gadam alleges that the MLA has approved this scheme with the aim of providing financial benefits to his relatives.
Ignoring Gram Sabha: He claimed that no permission of Gram Sabha has been taken for this scheme, which is an insult to the democratic process.
Warning to go to court: JMM leader has termed it as misuse of government funds and has said that he will take the matter to court.
MLA group's clarification: No hindrance in development
On the other hand, while clarifying the allegations, JMM's Angada Block President Rijhuva Munda defended the MLA. He said that there is no legal requirement of Gram Sabha's permission for MLA fund schemes.
Why is politics so heated?
In rural areas, the time of foundation stone laying (late night) and not taking the local village head into confidence has now become a topic of discussion. On one hand, while the MLAs are calling it public interest, the opposition camp is preparing to take it among the public by calling it a 'game of darkness'. On this, AJSU leaders say that this is a fight to divide the cream among JMM itself.
