State Health Minister Irfan Ansari met Union Minister of State for AYUSH and Health and Family Welfare (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav in New Delhi on Thursday and sought approval for opening an Ayurveda Medical College in Jharkhand. He said that the state of Jharkhand, rich in mineral resources and medicinal plants, has not yet got the facility of Ayurvedic Medical College.
Ayurvedic medical colleges are running successfully in many states including Maharashtra, while there is immense potential for AYUSH medicine in Jharkhand. He stressed on the establishment of Ayurvedic Medical Colleges in one government and one private sector. Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department of the State Government, Ajay Kumar was also present on the occasion.
According to Irfan Ansari, the Union Minister of State has given in-principle consent to his demand. Other proposals to make the health system in the state more strong, modern and public welfare were also discussed with him. He also proposed to establish modern high-tech labs based on Japanese technology in all the medical colleges of the state and Ranchi Sadar Hospital. The Union Minister of State agreed to this also.
In the meeting, it was agreed upon that 60 percent and 40 percent financial cooperation between the Center and the State respectively for the construction of Wellness Health Centers/Health Cottages in all the districts of the state. He told the Union Minister of State that under the Abu Health Scheme of the Jharkhand Government, free treatment up to Rs 15 lakh is being provided to the cardholders. If we get the support of the Central Government, this scheme will be more effective for the poor and needy. On this, Jadhav directed to immediately send the names of two hospitals, so that cooperation can be started from the Central Government.
Proposal to increase seats in medical colleges also
A proposal was made before the Union Minister of State to increase the number of MBBS seats from 100 to 250 and increase in PG seats in other medical colleges of the state including Shaheed Nirmal Mahato Medical College of Dhanbad and MGM of Jamshedpur. The Union Minister assured that the process of increasing medical seats will be taken forward after inspection by the expert team.
