Jagran Team, Kannauj. In search of underground petroleum gas storage, a team from Hyderabad on behalf of Oil India Limited has started drill boring in four villages in potential areas. The team has done 30 borings at about 25 places. After the boring is dry, the team will test the presence of petroleum gas by blasting it with gunpowder inside the ground.

On Sunday, the team of Alpha Jio India Limited from Hyderabad camped in villages Kudra, Raipura and Poppur in Vishungarh police station area. Here the team installed modern machines and did boring at 20 places. Apart from this, the team also reached Bahsar village of Tirwa and did boring at five places. Suddenly seeing the team boring in the fields, the farmers protested against the destruction of the standing crops, but the team officials assured the farmers of compensation in case the crops are destroyed. Due to this, farmers have also started gathering with curiosity to watch the activities of the team.

Team officials said that on October 14, 2025, permission for the research work was taken by sending a letter to the district administration on behalf of Oil India Limited. After survey, boring is being done in many districts of the state in search of petroleum products. SDM Chhibramau Gyanendra Kumar Dwivedi said that the team of Oil India Limited is working on petroleum exploration. Cooperation is being provided by the district administration. District Mines Officer Sandesh Patel said that the team will drill to a depth of 60 meters. When the boring is dry, it will cause a low intensity explosion of gunpowder inside the ground. After this, the samples will be sent to the lab to determine whether they contain petroleum products.

There will be boring at these places also

The team will also do boring in Malikpur-Saurikh Road, Gursahaiganj and Farrukhabad districts in search of petroleum products. ADM Devendra Singh says that this is a normal process. There is no need for any person or farmers to get confused. Survey is already being done in search of petroleum products.
