The weather has been cold in the district for the last one week and even on Friday, the sun could not be seen throughout the day. There were clouds and dense fog in the sky, due to which life was affected.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 15.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 8.4 degrees Celsius.

Due to cold westerly winds and lack of sunlight, people had to resort to bonfires and warm clothes even during the day. Due to increased chill in the morning and evening, there was less traffic on the roads and markets.

The effect of cold may increase further due to continuous westerly winds and moisture in the atmosphere. Due to the effect of jet stream, cold wave like conditions are likely to persist in the coming days.

According to meteorologists, the weather is expected to remain dry for the next four to five days, but there may be moderate to dense fog in the morning.

During this period, the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 15 to 16 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to remain between 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. Cold winds blowing at a speed of 5 to 6 kilometers per hour will further intensify the feeling of cold.

The effect of continuously increasing cold is clearly visible on the life of common people. People are avoiding leaving their homes unnecessarily in the morning and evening.

The markets are also less crowded than before. Children, elderly and sick people are being advised to exercise special caution. In rural areas, people are seen protecting themselves from the cold by lighting bonfires.

Cold wave is also affecting agriculture. Agricultural scientists have advised farmers to maintain adequate moisture in temperature-sensitive crops. Cold can have an adverse effect on crops like tomatoes, peas and potatoes.

There is a need to pay attention to irrigation and weed control from time to time in vegetable crops. If 40 to 45 days have been completed in the wheat crop, then nitrogen fertilization with second irrigation is said to be beneficial.

Overall, North Bihar is ready to welcome the New Year 2026 amidst cold and fog. However, due to the harshness of the weather, caution will be necessary in the celebration.

There is no sign of respite from the cold at present, hence people are being advised to welcome the New Year with caution and caution.
