Extortion business running in the name of gangster Prince Khan.
Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. A case of spreading terror in the name of extortion has again come to light in the city. Major, a close aide of notorious fugitive criminal Prince Khan, has sent a message and audio record to the son of a coal businessman of the city and demanded extortion of Rs 1 crore and Rs 5 lakh every month.
In the voice messages and videos sent on WhatsApp, open threats were made to shoot and kill if the money was not paid, due to which the victim's family is in fear and stress. On the complaint of the victim, Dhanbad police station has registered an FIR against Prince Khan and Major for extortion and threatening.
The case is related to Jata Shankar Rai alias Mohit Rai (24 years), resident of New Vishunpur. He has given a written complaint in Dhanbad police station that on January 6, 2026, at around 8:21 pm, a voice message and video was sent to his mobile through WhatsApp from an unknown mobile.
In the video, a young man around 25 years old, calling himself Major Khan and directly citing the name of Prince Khan, said to pay Rs 1 crore in lump sum and Rs 5 lakh as extortion money every month.
According to the complainant, the person who threatened said that if the demanded amount was not given, his family members would be shot dead. The victim and his entire family are terrified after seeing the threatening messages and videos.
The victim also told the police that his father does small business of coal through e-auction. The criminals have targeted them on the basis of this business. The family is in an atmosphere of panic after the incident.
The victim has filed an application in Dhanbad police station demanding strict legal action against the criminals. Here, on the basis of the application, Dhanbad police station has registered an FIR and increased vigil in the area. Police have also started technical investigation of the concerned mobile number.
Voice messages and videos sent on WhatsApp are being scrutinized as evidence. It is also being investigated who actually is the person making the threat. Dhanbad police station in-charge Manoj Pandey said that the matter has been taken seriously. On the basis of technical evidence, the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
