State Bureau, Ranchi. 350 foreign nationals living illegally in Jharkhand have been identified. The Extradition Bureau operating under the Union Home Ministry has received a report related to this. Now all the identified foreign nationals will be verified and the process will start to return them to their country.
Most of these are foreign nationals whose visas have failed. When he came to Jharkhand, he stayed here and did not return back to his country. The Union Home Secretary is soon to visit Jharkhand to review the issue of return of foreign nationals.
The agenda of the meeting has also been shared with the state government. District Police Module (DPM) is also functioning smoothly in Jharkhand. DPM has also prepared a report regarding foreign nationals, in which the list of overstaying foreigners despite visa failure has also been given.
Information related to this has also been sent to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the concerned district and Kolkata. This list is related to expiry of validity of visa and passport.
The monthly list related to foreigners with illegal visa-passport failure is also sent to the Union Home Ministry. There is an emphasis on creating a strong FRRO in the capitals of all the states.
One Bangladeshi has been deported, four more to follow
A Bangladeshi national was reportedly deported on 22 April 2025. There are still four Bangladeshis who are to be deported. They were living illegally in Jharkhand and were arrested.
Correspondence has been initiated with the Center to verify his nationality. One of these has been verified. Three Bangladeshis had escaped from the foreigner holding camp in Hazaribagh on 09 June 2025, and were arrested on 10 June.
Presently he is lodged in Jaiprakash Narayan Central Jail of Hazaribagh. There is only one detention center in Jharkhand, which is in Hazaribagh. It is serving as a foreign holding camp.
FIP has been implemented in all the districts
Foreigners Identification Portal (FIP) has been implemented in all 24 districts. Its strict compliance has been ordered. Under this, biometric and biographical details of foreign citizens have to be filled.
With this, complete details of all foreign nationals will be available in all the districts, which will help in taking prompt action in case of foreign nationals failing their visa-passport.
