Property Dealer Trapped In The Trap Of Exchanging Foreign Currency In Noida, Theft Of Rs 10 Lakh; Accused Arrested

Jagran correspondent, Noida. A case of theft of Rs 10 lakh from a car has come to light by calling people near DLF Mall of Sector 20 police station area on the pretext of exchanging foreign currency.

The police registered a case on Thursday and arrested the vicious thief near the multilevel parking in Sector 18. Stolen Rs 4.60 lakh, Aadhar card photo copy and mobile were recovered from him, while Rs 2 lakh were frozen in his bank account.

Sachin Rangi of Hullahedi village of Sonipat, Haryana works in property dealing. He needed foreign currency to go out of the country. With the help of an advertisement seen on social media, he came in contact with a young man named Shikhar Khurana of Noida Sector-151 Eldigo Society. Shikhar had called Sachin to DLF Mall located in Sector 20 police station area on January 5 on the pretext of giving him foreign currency.

The deal was being done while sitting in the car of Sachin and Shikhar. While showing screenshots on Forex mobile to Sachin and feeding him, Shikhar had passed a bag containing Rs 10 from the car. Shikhar left the spot without making the deal. When he left, the bag was discovered stolen.

In a CCTV footage, Shikhar was seen carrying the bag. When talked to, Shikhar admitted to taking the bag by mistake, but he was not returning the money. The victim complained to the police.

Police station in-charge Arvind Kumar said that the accused Shikhar has been arrested. During interrogation, it has been revealed that the accused is a vicious criminal. He cheats people in the name of selling foreign currency. Information about his other associates and criminal records is being collected.
