State Bureau, Srinagar. The special court constituted under the NIA Act on Thursday sentenced Jamir Sadiq Lone, a terrorist harborer of Pulwama, to four years and four months' imprisonment and also fined him Rs 10,000. He has been convicted of helping terrorists and conspiring to attack civilians and security forces and carrying out deadly attacks on them.
Jamir Sadiq, a resident of Tikan Pulwama in district Pulwama, is a well-known overground worker of Lone terrorists. In December 2020, he had hosted three terrorists of Al-Badar, Mehrajuddin Lone of Arigam, Omar Ali of Dadarsar Tral and Omar Farooq of Sugan Shopian, in his house to execute the conspiracy of an attack.
Before they could attack the security forces, the security forces came to know about their presence. The security forces surrounded the terrorists and asked them to surrender. The terrorists opened fire to break the security forces' cordon and escape.
The security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter that followed, three terrorists were killed while Jamir Sadiq Lone was caught in injured condition. Police spokesperson said that this entire matter was thoroughly investigated and Jamir Sadiq Lone was found to be a helper of the terrorists. He was arrested. This case was investigated first by DSP Mohammad Shafi and later by DSP Shaukat Rafiq.
He collected all the necessary evidence in this case and the challan was presented in the court on 27 April 2022. After this, charges were framed against the accused on June 1, 2022. Police spokesperson said that Jamir Sadiq Lone participated in the hearing through video conference.
He confessed to his crime and also gave complete details of his relations with the terrorists. Taking cognizance of all the evidence against him and the circumstances of his injury and arrest, the court has sentenced him to four years and four months in jail and a fine of Rs 10,000.
